Three people were killed and 11 others, including tourists, injured today when a jeep crashed into a crowd and caught fire in Beijing's iconic Tiananmen Square.
The jeep crashed into a guardrail of Jinshui Bridge on the moat of the Forbidden City here before bursting into flames this afternoon, according to municipal police and Beijing Emergency Medical Center.
The driver and two passengers of the jeep were killed while 11 others, including tourists and police officers, injured as the vehicle crashed into the crowd, police said.

The fire was put out soon and the police had reached the spot of the incident.
The 11 people injured have been sent to hospitals nearby.
An investigation into the incident was underway.
Tiananmen Square is a symbolic centre of the Chinese state and is kept under tight security.
