Three undertrials escaped from the newly-constructed district jail here by climbing the gas pipeline running along its boundary wall, police said today.

"Jitendra, Chandrashekhar and their accomplice, facing trial in a dacoity case, escaped from the district prison. They climbed the gas pipeline and jumped over the wall," Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Sahni said.

The incident came to light during routine check of inmates last night. The three were shifted to the new jail four months ago.
