At least 31 students were injured today when their speeding school bus overturned in Surajpur area, police said.
"A bus of Vishwa Bharti Public School carrying 40 children was returning after school hours around 2 PM and overturned near Crowne Plaza in Surajpur," Deputy Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh said.
One child, identified as Priyanshu, suffered a major injury in his hand and has been referred to a Delhi hospital, while 30 others suffered minor injuries, Singh said.
The bus driver fled after the accident and is absconding.
The injured students were rushed to a private hospital and most of them were discharged by late evening, he said.
