338 properties issued stop-work notices in Karol Bagh Zone

Over 330 properties in Karol Bagh Zone of North Delhi have been issued stop-work notices in the last one week of a survey carried out by NDMC for ongoing unauthorised constructions, the civic body said today.

In the survey of dangerous buildings, which began about a week ago, so far 47,242 properties have been surveyed in the zone and ongoing unauthorised constructions were observed in 338 properties, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) said in a statement.

All 338 properties were issued stop-work notices and police were also endorsed a copy of the same to keep a vigil.

Besides, 14 properties have been identified as dangerous and a notice has been issued to demolish dangerous portions like balcony and parapet wall in one property, it said.
 

Vacation notices were also issued to five other properties. Besides, three properties which were declared dangerous were found vacant, it said.

The NDMC is also taking stern action against unauthorised constructions, specially in the Walled City area.

Illegally developed portions in 33 properties were demolished and five properties were sealed in Sadar Paharganj, Rohini and City Zones. The areas there include Shahstri Nagar, Sadar Bazar, Farsh Khana, Nangloi, Chandni Chowk, Darya Ganj, Delhi Gate.

The corporation said it would continue its drive to curb illegal construction.

A recent building collapse incident in Inderlok area in Karol Bagh Zone had claimed 10 lives.
