Four people were killed and five others injured today as a train ploughed through a crowd of street vendors and pedestrians crossing the railway tracks here.
The accident happened on the rail track near the Karwan Bazar kitchen market.
The accident took place when two trains were passing by the area from opposite directions, Abu Ahmed, a gateman of the rail crossing, was quoted by The Daily Star as saying.
Many pedestrians were on the rail track as the trains neared the point.
