A court here Wednesday granted four days police custody of five people arrested on the charge of hatching a plot to eliminate some leaders of two Hindu outfits in the city.
Allowing a plea by the police, Principal District Sessions Judge R Shaktivel directed them to produce the accused in the court on September 16.
The judge also ordered that the advocates and relatives of the accused be allowed to meet them at a particular time during the period of police custody.
Police had arrested the five people on September 2 based on an intelligence input that they were plotting to kill Hindu outfit leaders, including Arjun Sampath of Hindu Makkal Katchi and Anbu Mari of Shakthi Sena.
