600 women will be trained at the BRD Medical College here to fight against malnutrition, health department sources said here.
The women from 19 blocks of Gorakhpur district will be trained on malnutrition during the sixty days' training programme starting today, the sources said.
After the training, they will be sent to villages and slums to identify malnourished women and children and suggest remedial measures, they said.

The training programme, aimed at promotion of community health, will be guided by Dr Abhay Kumar Srivastava, District Development Officer and District Magistrate Ravi Kumar NG along with BRD Medical College Principal Dr K P Kushwaha.
Malnutrition has been as one of the major health problems of the region.
The public hearing on Encephalitis conducted here by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights on September 11-12 identified malnutrition and contaminated water as the root causes of encephalitis, which is prevailing in the region for past 35 years.
