Police has arrested three smugglers and recovered 92 kg of poppy straw from two separate places on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district here.
Acting on a specific information, police intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle at Amar Chasma in Batote area of the district yesterday, police said.
During checking, 80 kg of poppy straw was recovered and the vehicle driver Muzahir Shah arrested, they said, adding a case has been registered and further investigation is on.
In another incident, two narcotic smugglers, Ejaz Ahmed and Muzaffar Ahmed were arrested and 12 kg of poppy straw recovered in Batote area of the same district during the period, they said.
A case was also registered in this connection and further investigation has begun, they said.
