A Block Development Officer and an irrigation department engineer were caught red-handed by ACB for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 1.70 lakh for releasing wages of the Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS) labourers at Sinnar near here, ACB said today.
The duo were caught red-handed yesterday after the complainant, a Gram Sevak of Knkori in Sinnar taluka, moved the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against them.
According to the anti-graft agency, BDO Mohan Bagul and the branch engineer of Small Scale Irrigation Department (water conservation) Chandrabhan Ghuge had sought the illegal gratification for clearing the bill of Rs 34 lakh towards the contract for work and wages of labourers.
Bagul was held while allegedly accepting Rs 1 lakh and Ghuge Rs 70,000.
