Bear killed by vehicle on Theni-Madurai road

A bear was killed after being hit by a vehicle on the Theni-Madurai road on Wednesday, forest officials said.

The bear, believed to be one-year old, might have lost its way while searching for water and was crossing the road when it was fatally knocked down, the officials said.

The carcass was sent for a postmortem and later buried.
