Bengali film makes the cut for Hanoi film festival

Press Trust of India Kolkata
Director Partha Sen's 'Anubrata Bhalo Achho', an independent film starring acclaimed actor of Shabdo Ritwik Chakraborty and Swastika Mukherjee, has been selected for the Hanoi International Film Festival.

'Anubrata Bhalo Achho' has been invited to the festival which showcases independent directors' films.

"I am very happy to learn that our film is in the competition section. I had no hesitation when Parthada offered me the role of a woman in mid 40s, as every woman can relate to her crisis and I believe in taking challenges. And above all it is the director and script that matter," said Swastika.

A total of 200 films from 26 countries and territories around the world will be screened at the Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF) that is scheduled to take place from November 23-27.

Ritwik said he would like t go to the festival provided shoots did not come in the way.

Speaking on the title of the film, the director said he was inspired by Shakti Chattopadhyay's poem, 'Abani Bari Achho'.

"With the success of independent genre films like 'Bakita Byaktigato', which won national award last year, or the acceptance of films being made by people like Suman Mukhopadhyay, I am hopeful that 'Anubrata Bhalo Achho' will also be accepted on home turf," Partha said.
