The body of a 18-year-old girl who was missing since February 24 was found in a paddy field in Howrah district today, police said.
The body of the girl, a resident of Harinaryanpur village was found by some villagers lying the paddy field. They immediately informed the police.
The police went to the spot and recovered the body and send it for postmortem and have started investigations into the matter, a police officer said.
The girl's family members had earlier lodged a missing complaint with the Shyampur police station after she went missing.
Meanwhile, a boy (Robin Manna) with whom the girl was allegedly in love allegedly tried to commit suicide today. He has been admitted to Uluberia Hospital, they police said.
The girl's family members alleged that the Robin and his family members allegedly killed her.
