Boys abducted by Maoists escape, return to police authorities

Two boys, who were abducted by the Maoists eight months ago in Latehar district, today reached the police and district police chief Anup Birtheray announced to look after their education and other requirements.

The boys, who hail from Bishunbandh and Khirahand villages, escaped the clutches of the Left Wing Extremists when they were put on sentry duty, the SP said.

They reached Saryu through the jungle route and approached the police, he said.

Assistant Commandant Pankaj Jha and police in-charge Ghulam Rabbani Khan took the boys to the SP.

Birtharay described the Maoists' act of abduction of children as cowardly.
