BSP stages walkout over poor irrigation facilities in UP

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, BSP members demanded a debate on the problems being faced by the farmers in irrigation.
Leader of the Opposition Naseemuddin Siddiqui alleged that while farmers were facing problems due to delay in monsoon, most of the tube-wells in the state were non-operational and canals were dry.
He said the situation was worst in Bundelkhand region where people were migrating due to shortage of water.
Responding to their concerns, Irrigation Minister Shivpal Yadav said work on repair of tube-wells has been started.
He said though Rs 1,200 crore was spent on Bansagar project, Bundelkhand and Allahabad did not receive even a drop of water.
Dissatisfied with the reply, BSP members staged a walkout.
