Central team in MP to assess damage to crops

A Central Government team arrived here today to assess the damage caused to crops by unseasonal rains and hailstorm in Madhya Pradesh.

The multi-member team will start visiting affected districts, numbering a dozen, from tomorrow and meet Chief Secretary Antony DeSa on March 15, official sources said.

The members have been divided into three groups. The first, headed by Sanjay Lohia, a Joint Secretary-level officer, will tour Dewas, Agar-Malwa, Ujjain districts and parts of Indore on March 14. The next day the same group will visit Dhar and remaining areas of Indore district.

The second group, headed by Sandeep Saxena, Under Secretary, Food, Public Distribution and Consumers Affairs Ministry, will undertake a trip of Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen and Sehore districts to assess the damage.
 

The third one, headed by Satya Prakash, a Director in Rural Development Department, will survey Tikamgarh, Ashok Nagar and Chattarpur districts, the sources said.

The Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors concerned will accompany the team members during the exercise, they added.
