CRPF jawan hurt in accidental firing

A CRPF jawan, posted at the residence of a Jammu and Kashmir minister, was injured today when his service rifle went off accidentally.

Constable Devender Singh of 44 Battalion was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be stable, a police spokesman said.

The jawan was posted on security duty at the residence of Information Technology Minister Imran Reza Ansari at Qamarwari in the city.

Singh was hit by a bullet fired accidentally from his service rifle inside the security picket, the spokesman said.
