Don't put up makeshift homes: Cops to Jantar Mantar protesters

Police have asked those staging protests at Jantar Mantar here to not turn their enclosures into makeshift homes by installing doors and fences.

In a drive today, a police team removed doors and fences from several enclosures.

"There are chances of unauthorised persons, terrorists or criminals taking refuge in the place in the disguise of protesters," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) B K Singh, who headed the team.

"They can protest keeping the enclosures open. This is a frequent drive to have a check on activities in the vicinity," he added.

However, the protesters pinning their hopes in agitations for fulfilling their demands say the harsh weather of Delhi is forcing them to keep the enclosure covered.

"We close our enclosures to protect us from harsh weather and continue our protest for an indefinite period," said a protester.
