An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 27-year-old man at Barwala village under Shapur police station in the district, police said.
The accused, named Anis, picked up the girl from near her house yesterday, took her to field and allegedly raped her, they said.
The girl was later found unconscious by the villagers who also got hold of the accused and beat him up before handing him over to the police.
Shapur police station SHO S P Gautam said the accused has been arrested and an FIR has been registered on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim's father.
The girl has been sent for medical examination, he said.
