Burglars in Nagla Beeri village here broke into the house of a retired police man, decamping cash and jewellery worth lakhs, besides two licensed guns, police said today.
The incident occurred last night after Jiledar Singh, a retired sub-inspector and now running a business, had returned home with cash Rs seven lakh. He along with his family watched television until 11 in the night following which they all went to sleep, police said.
In the morning they found the lock on the door of the house broken and cash and jewellery, claimed to be in lakhs, amiss, they said.

Singh's licenced rifle and revolver were also missing, they added.
A case against unidentified persons has been registered and probe in the case initiated. No arrests have so far been made, police said.
