Copper prices edged up by 0.28 per cent to Rs 460.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid positive global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Rs 1.30, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 460.60 per kg in a business turnover of 679 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in February was trading higher by 90 paise, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 455.60 per kg in 25,304 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants on the back of a firm trend overseas, mainly led to a rise in copper prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months was up USD 7.50 to USD 7,126.50 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
