Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit today urged people to emulate the ideals of Mahapurush Madhavdev on the eve of the Vaishnavite saint's birth anniversary tomorrow.
"Madhavdev carried forward his guru Sankardev's legacy and established several satras which have shaped the thoughts and beliefs of our land for centuries.
"The two Gurus had together united our land and created a common cultural milieu", Purohit said in a statement here.
On the occasion of Madhavdev's birth anniversary "we should all reiterate to strengthen our composite culture on the ideals of these great saints", he added.
The Governor also appealed to all sections of people to further strengthen Assam's cultural tradition which was formed under the influences of Mahapurush Sankardev and Madhavdev.
