On the directive of the Allahabad High Court, a youth has deposited Rs one lakh in the bank account of a girl with whom he had allegedly eloped.
Khalid (25) had eloped and got married to Ayesha (21) at Islampur village in the district on May 17. The parents of the girl, who opposed the relationship, had lodged an FIR against the boy, charging him with the abduction of the girl.
Hearing on a petition filed by the couple seeking protection, the Allahabad High Court had directed the boy to deposit Rs 1 lakh in a fixed deposit account in name of the girl for her social security.
The court had also ordered Chief Judicial Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar to record the statement of the girl to decide her custody.
