A leopard was trapped in a cage in the Borda forest area even as a search continued for another leopard which was responsible for the death of seven persons over the last one month, officials said today.

The leopard, which was trapped in a cage put up by forest officials, did not have any resemblance with the one which was responsible for the death of the seven persons, they said.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), S S Mishra today reviewed the situation in the wake of many deaths caused by the leopard since March 24.

According to a press note, a leopard was found trapped in a cage, installed at compartment number 520 in Borda forests under Chandrapur Division on Saturday.

The department has installed 10 cages at various places to trap the concerned leopard. However, the leopard that was trapped today bore no resemblance with the one which had caused so many casualties.

Officials said the search for the trouble making leopard would continue.

The trapped leopard is a full-grown male of around 8-9 years of age, the press note said.
