Union Coal Minister and local MP Sriprakash Jaiswal was today sworn-in as ex-officio member of the city municipal corporation.
Jaiswal, a former mayor of the city, was sworn in by incumbent Jagatveer Singh Drona.
Jaiswal later held interactions with Congress members of the corporation and discussed various civic problems of the city.

"As the MP (from Kanpur), I have been working for the development of Kanpur. Now I would be able to study the problems faced by the city from close quarters," Jaiswal said.
While Kanpur municipality has 110 elected representatives, 10 members are nominated by the state government while another 10 are chosen from amongst local MLAs and MPs for appointment as ex-officio members of the body.
