Hundreds of bovines have died in Jalore's Pathmeda gau-shala in past three days due to heavy inundation, its functionaries said.
Heavy torrential rains and a breach in the Panchala dam has led to waterlogging in the area.
"We have lost about 750 bovines in past three days, including 200 today," said the controller of the gau-shala, Punam Singh Rajpurohit 'Manavatdharmi'.

He said that about 4000 bovines at various gau-shalas in Jalore and Sirohi districts are sick due and are being attended by the staff of the gau-shala along with the volunteers, who rushed to the spot from neighbouring villages.
Pathmeda gau-shala has 18 branches across Jalore and Sirohi districts sheltering over 45,000 bovines. Most of them have been affected by flood water.
The gau-shala has been looking forward to an active cooperation from the administration, which had sent 4 veterinary compounders here.
But according to Rajpurohit, more needs to be done.
Divisional Commissioner Ratan Lahoti discussed the situation in a meeting today.
"We have directed the officials of the animal husbandry department to send their teams at the Pathmeda and its two major branches at Golasan and Nandgaon for the treatment of the ailing cattle and ensure that the pending grant is provided to them so that the efforts to save the cows are not hampered," said Lahoti.
