IRS officer wants to put 'Beti Bachao..' posters in trains

An Indian Revenue Services officer posted here has sought Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu's permission to allow him to put up posters carrying the message of the skewed sex ratio and empowerment of girls in trains and is willing to foot the bill for the exercise.
"I have written a letter to Railways Minister urging him to spread message of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' by putting up posters in trains on my own expenses," said Hari Narayan Meena, the general manager at the government-run Opium & Alkaloid Works.
Meena said he and his wife, a teacher by profession, have been spreading this message by spending their salaries for one month every year.

The officer said he and his wife Dr Hemlata have posted 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' messages "on wheels since January this year. We have posted such messages on over 15000 trucks."
Justifying his demand to put up the posters in trains, the officer said the message about the skewed sex ratio will be spread effectively as lakhs of people travel by trains every day.
