J-K minister's security guard goes missing

A security guard of a state minister has gone missing along with two automatic rifles here, prompting Jammu and Kashmir authorities to launch a massive hunt to trace him, police said today.

Constable Naseer Ahmad Mir was reported missing from his place of posting at Sheikh Bagh locality in the heart of Srinagar since last night, a police official said.

He said two service rifles including that of Mir are also missing, giving rise to speculations that the cop had deserted the force.

The other weapon was taken away from the box of constable Pervaiz Ahmad, another policeman who is part of the guard post at the complex belonging to the minister, the official said.
 

The police have launched a massive hunt to trace the missing cop and recover the weapons.

Meanwhile, another policeman was reported missing from his house at Wusan village in Ganderbal district.

Head Constable Mohammad Shafi Parray, suspended from service last year, was reported missing by his family yesterday, the police said, adding, efforts are on to locate him.
