Police today arrested a Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a senior government official, on charges of theft in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Pritam Singh, Special Police Officer (SPO) of Ramban district, who was deployed as PSO to the Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Inder Singh, was found to be the kingpin in the case and was arrested, a police officer said.
Police swung into action after a theft case of iron plates worth Rs 2 lakh was registered with Ramnagar police station, the officer said.

The SPO had fled away leaving behind his service weapon and other belongings, he said adding that raids were conducted in Jammu, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban and Reasi districts to trace his whereabouts.
Initially Singh managed to give us a slip, but today a police team of Ramnagar police station succeeded in apprehending the absconding SPO, the officer said.
Earlier yesterday, other five accused in the case, Maroof, Arshad, Zulfiqar, Shehjad and Noorani were also arrested, he said.
The SPO is being interrogated to find out whether this gang of burglars was involved in other theft cases or not, the officer added.
