Lead prices went down by 0.55 per cent to Rs 154 per kg in futures trade today as speculators cut positions amid tepid demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in April fell by 85 paise, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 154 per kg in a business turnover of 1,005 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in May was trading lower by 75 paise, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 154.75 per kg in 8 lots.
Analysts attributed the slide in lead futures to offloading of positions by traders following decline in demand from alloy-makers in the physical markets.
