Licences of two medical stores suspended

The stores are situated at the MG Hospital and the MDM Hospital of the city, which are both governed by the S N Medical College.
The decision was taken on the basis of report submitted by a committee of doctors which found "gross irregularities" in the functioning of these stores, prompting the college administration to recommend termination of the licences, principal Arvind Mathur said.
The college administration had carried out a probe after authorities in May busted a drug racket and seized about 1,000 vials of some life-saving drugs.
Ten accused have been arrested in this connection so far and names of few doctors of these hospitals have also surfaced for their alleged involvement in the racket, police said, adding that further probe into the matter is on.
Police is also trying to find out the identify the doctors at these two hospitals who had prescribed these drugs to patients, an official said.
