The Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education here is celebrating October 31 as the Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The celebration is to pay tribute to the efforts made by the "Iron Man of India" to unite the country, an official release said here today.
LNCPE, part of the academic wing of the Sports Authority of India, will hold two programmes--a Run for Unity and Pledge taking ceremony-- to mark the occasion, Dr G Kishore, Principal, LNCPE, said in the release.
The 'Run for Unity' will be from Kazhakuttom junction near here to SAI LNCPE Campus at 7.30 AM which will be flagged off by Jiji Thomson, Chief Secretary to state government.
The pledge taking ceremony will also be organized in the SAI LNCPE College Campus.
It is expected that about 1500 sports stars, athletes and sports enthusiasts will participate in the Run for Unity, it added.
