A man died while two children received serious burn injuries in a fire that broke out in Ratan Vihar locality in Outher Delhi today.

22-year-old Sonu died in the fire while two children - Anil (3) and Komal (10), received burn injuries and were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi hospital, said a senior police officer.

The fire was reported at around 7.35 in the morning and fire tenders were rushed to extinguish the fire at Gali no 7 of G Block near Ratan Vihar. The fire was suspected to have started from a cylinder filled with insecticides, the officer said.

It was alleged that a factory was running in the house in residential area. The insecticides were filled into small bottles for sale. Deceased Sonu reportedly worked at the factory.

"The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained and our investigation is going on. A case of negligence has, however, been registered by us," said Ghanshyam Bansal, Additional DCP(I) of Outer Delhi police.
