Man gets ten years RI for raping daughter

A local court today sentenced a man to ten years and six months of rigorous imprisonment for raping his nine-year-old daughter.

V Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court at Nampally convicted and sentenced Mohd Saleem in a 2011 case and also slapped a fine of Rs 500 on him.

Saleem's wife had lodged a complaint with police in May 2011 stating that her husband had raped their daughter and threatened her not to reveal the matter to anyone, a release from Hyderabad police said today.

Following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and Saleem was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
 

After completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed and after hearing the arguments, the court pronounced the sentence today, the release added.
