Man lynched for attempts to steal

Superintendent of Police S H Mirza said Sikandar Poddar (23) was beaten to death by locals when he was allegedly found to making attempts to steal from a house with one of his aides - Kazi.

The locals caught Sikandar but Kazi managed to flee, he said.

Sikandar was an accused of several cases of dacoity and stealing in the town, the police said.
