Man sentenced to life for killing newly married wife

A man was sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court for murdering his newly married wife in 2012 in Odisha's Kendrapara district.

Kendrapara District and Sessions Judge, Bijoy Ketan Mohanty, while convicting Baikunthanath Mohanty, sentenced him to life imprisonment yesterday on the basis of circumstantial evidence for the killing on 1 June, 2012 in Dutiala village.

According to the prosecution, Mohanty had hacked to death his wife of eight months with a sharp weapon following a family feud.
