Mercury soars in parts of Raj, Barmer hottest at 44.7 deg C

The mercury soared in many parts of Rajasthan today with Barmer recording the highest maximum temperature of 44.7 degrees Celsius in the state.

Very light rains also occurred at isolated areas in Udaipur division.

Jaisalmer, Churu, Bikaner, Kota, Sriganganagar and Ajmer recorded maximum temperatures of 44.4 degrees Celsius, 43.5 degrees Celsius, 43.4 degrees Celsius, 43 degrees Celsius, 42.9 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.

Other stations registered day temperatures below 41 degrees Celsius, the MeT department here said.

Thunderstorms with light rains are likely to occur at isolated places in the state till tomorrow, the weatherman said.
