American motorcyclist Kurt Caselli has been killed during a desert raid race on the Baja California peninsula after suffering serious head injuries in a fall, organisers said.
The 30-year-old Californian had been favourite to win the the SCORE Baja 1000 race which was due to finish in La Paz, Bolivia.
He suffered fatal injuries yesterday, when he fell off his KTM machine as he chased down race leader Colton Udal.
The SCORE Baja 1000 is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
