Musician's mother says son was killed by his wife & her family

Press Trust of India Hyderabad
A day after Telugu music composer Chakri's widow claimed that there was a threat to her life from her in-laws, the mother of the late musician lodged a police complaint alleging that her son was killed by her daughter-in-law and her family members.

Renowned Telugu music composer Chakhradhar, who was popularly known as Chakri, had died last month.

G Vidyavathi, mother of Chakradhar, filed a complaint with Jubilee Hills Police alleging that her son was poisoned and murdered by her daughter-in-law G Sravani and her family members (including parents) for financial gains and rights over her son's properties.

"We have received a complaint from Chakri's mother, who alleged that he died due to poisoning by her daughter-in-law and her family members. She has sought a thorough inquiry into the matter," Jubilee Hills Police Station Inspector Venkat Reddy said.

No case has been registered in this connection and only a general diary entry has been made, he said.

Sravani had yesterday approached Jubilee Police and alleged in her complaint that there was a threat to her life from her in-laws and sought protection. Alleging harassment by her in-laws, Sravani had also raised doubts over Chakri's death.

In her complaint Sravani had further claimed that a day before Chakri's death (December 15, 2014), he had told her that her mother Vidyavathi and relatives were pressuring him to transfer his property in the name of his mother and brother Madhava Rao.

Following Sravani's complaint, police had yesterday registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC against Vidyavathi and eight others.
