Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today stressed on the need to create strong Indian brands to drive demand for processed food products.

"Indian food sector was perceived to be marred by many roadblocks couple of years back. Now, the mood has turned around for good," Badal said, while addressing an event organised by industry body Ficci here.

She emphasised on "the need of creating 'Brand India' in the food sector in line with the Prime Minister's vision of 'Make in India' programme", said a statement.

Stating that India is among the top FDI investment destinations globally, Badal said, "World has lot of enthusiasm for Indian food processing, retail, machine manufacturing and several allied sectors. This is our opportunity to become a global sourcing food-hub."

The Minister also announced and invited ideas for 'World Food Fair' to be held in November next year.
