Opposition Meghalaya People's Front today alleged that members of the Congress-led government in the state were having a nexus with insurgent groups in the Garo Hills region and demanded an enquiry into it.
"MPF maintains the need to thoroughly probe the unholy nexus between members of the ruling group and the insurgents (in the Garo Hills region)," MPF Chairman Donkupar Roy said in a memorandum to the governor.
"The morale of the police force has been badly eroded by this nexus making their task of policing a herculean one," the Leader of Opposition said.

Giving a breakup of insurgency related incidents, he said the total number of casualties this year alone had gone upto 28 including 19 civilians.
He also sought the governor's help to break the deadlock between the state government and the pro-Inner Line Permit groups and initiation of a dialogue on the issue.
