Delhi police have been informed that there are no offence of any kind registered against Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil said here today.

He was responding to a query on a faxed communique sent from a deputy commissioner of police (DCP), Delhi police, to the Pune police to inquire about "any offence of any kind" registered against the Union Minister in connection with the Supreme Court guidelines on providing protection to VIPs.

"We have informed Delhi police that the record (of offences filed against Pawar) is nil," Patil told reporters at Vidhan Bhawan this evening.

"They (Delhi police) wanted the information in connection with the Supreme Court guidelines on providing protection (to VIPs)," Patil said.

The fax message had led the authorities to issue instructions to 33 police stations in Pune, asking senior inspectors to take up the subject on priority basis and submit the report on the issue of offence, if any, registered against Pawar.
