Police are groping in dark to trace the auto rickshaw driver who had left a family of three bleeding on the road after a mishap, and made away with their belongings two days ago in West Delhi.

Subodh Srivastava, an engineer posted in the city, had succumbed to his injuries at a hospital later while his wife and son were injured when the auto rickshaw overturned after hitting a metro pillar near Vikaspuri area.

Srivastava and his family had hired the auto rickshaw from Anand Vihar railway station after deboarding a train in the wee hours of Saturday, heading for their accommodation in west Delhi's Janakpuri area, said police.

While Srivastava and his family lay bleeding on the road, the auto rickshaw driver pulled up the vehicle, allegedly loaded their luggage and fled leaving them fighting for their lives.

We are monitoring CCTV footage to ascertain the registration number of the three-wheeler, an official said, adding that they have also finalised a sketch of the accused based on the description given by Srivastava's wife.
