NSCN-IM commander nabbed in Assam

The self-styled major was nabbed during a joint operation by 25 Assam Rifles, 9 Madras Regiment and police last night, police sources said today.

A 9-mm pistol with eight rounds of ammunition, a Chinese grenade, a list of cadre and sketch of the spot where the NSCN-IM had carried out an ambush on November 21 near Hindu Impui recovered during search operation there.

The security forces have jointly intensified their operation against the militants in the district after the recent attacks on security forces by insurgents, they added.
