One arrested with 300 gm opium

A person with 12 sticks of suspected opium weighing 300 gm was apprehended by the police in front of Azara police station here as he was coming from the the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, a police spokesman said.

The person was identified as Rabindra Kumar Palta (50), hailing from Kolkata and was picked up on a secret information after he had travelled to Guwahati from Kolkata by flight, the spokesman said.

Palta was picked up for interrogation and necessary action, he added.
