One held on charge of extortion

The accused Gargaram Bezbaruah had made threatening phone calls to the businessman and demanded Rs 25 lakh from him earlier this month.

The victim had filed a complaint with the police.

After investigation, police were able to zero in on the accused and arrested him from Ganeshguri locality of the city yesterday.

Bezbaruah had earlier served as an employee at a firm owned by the businessman, police said.
