Pak shelling: Over 4000 migrants housed in 6 relief camps in

Over 4000 people, who fled from areas near the Line of Control (LoC) due to five day long Pakistan shelling, have been housed in six different camps by authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.

There has been several instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan troops since July 15 in which five people including four Army-men have been killed and eight others injured.

"More than 4000 persons have been housed in six camps inthe Rajouri district," Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Shahid IqbalChoudhary said.

The district administration established a new relief campthe in wake of fresh migration triggered by repeated shelling in forwardareas, he said.
 

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the amenities being provided inrelief camps and arrangements for education of students.

"A total of 961 families comprised of 3812 persons hadbeen accommodated in five relief camps. Now a sixth relief camp has been established at a government middleschool, Gania, around 10 km from Nowshera," he said.

Choudhary said that in the Gania relief camp 121 families comprising 427 persons have been accommodated.

"Meanwhile 45 families comprising 204 persons have been accommodated in private houses," he said.

The administration has provided ration, fire wood, bedding, powersupply including gen-sets, potable drinking water, sanitation, tablefans, first-aid and other basic facilities at all the camps, he said.

Officials said that Anganwadi Centres have been opened in camps andalternate classes for students have also been started in view ofthe closure of schools.

A delegation of more than 300 of the displaced persons met the DeputyCommissioner and made demands related to suitable compensation for their losses.
