Panchayats in Tripura to brought under broadband connection

"We are working to provide broadband connections to all the 511 panchayats in Tripura for giving better service, showing transparency and technologically develop the panchayats", Tripura Panchayat Minister Manik De said today.

He said the central government has decided to set up broadband connections in two lakh fifty thousand panchayats in the country and as a pilot project has selected three states, Tripura, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, where the connections would be set up within four months.

Tripura secured second position in 2010-11 in the country for showing commitment and tranparency in maintaining accounts in three tier panchayat system.

The state ranked first in the year 2011-12 for proper implementation of E-Panxhayat Mission Mode programme to develop skills of Panchayat, commitment and transparency, minister said.
