Police arrest four, recover mobile phones worth Rs 90 lakh

A driver, who decamped with his employer's tempo carrying mobile phones worth Rs 1 crore, was arrested along his three accomplices in Masuri area here, police said today.

The arrested have been identified as Avdesh Kumar, a resident of Farrukhabad, UP, inod, Ashok, residents of Mahipal area of Delhi, and Manoj, a resident of Ghaziabad.

Police said one Adesh Kumar, a businessman and a resident of Meerut, had bought around 6,500 expensive mobiles worth Rs 1 crore from Delhi on March 20 and asked Avdesh Kumar to deliver all phones in Benares and Gorakhpur.

"Instead of delivering the phones in Benares and Gorakhpur, Adesh, with the help of his accomplices - Ashok, Vinod and Manoj - took the vehicle to Masuri area of Ghaziabad. Thereafter, Adesh registered a case against Avdesh at Masuri police station," said a senior police officer.
 

Police received a tip-off stating that Avdesh, along with his accomplices, was coming towards Dasna flyover last night. Police laid a trap and arrested all four accused, the officer also said.

Police said they have recovered 5,192 stolen phones worth Rs 90 lakh and a truck from their possession. The accused managed to sell phones worth around Rs 10 lakh and they have confessed to their crime," the officer added.
