A police team led by senior
police officials raided the district jail premises today and recovered several packets of ganja, a knife, three blades and two cell phones.
DCP Vishnuvardhan, DCP Jagadish, IGP Ravi Kumar, ACP Tilakchandra and all the station circle inspectors and sub-inspectors took part in the raid, police sources said.
The raid comes in the backdrop of the incident on June 8 when under trials had launched an attack on the police personnel who were about to shift two prisoners to the Belgaum prison.
The officials questioned the under trials and also inspected the premises.
