The authorities of the Ravenshaw University have referred the sexual harassment case involving a Chemistry teacher to the university's Statute Committee basing on the report of the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee.

The Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee have found prima facie evidence against the Chemistry teacher who allegedly sexually harassed a woman student, Vice-Chancellor Prof Prakash Kumar Sarangi said here today.

An undergraduate student has brought sexual harassment charges against the teacher last week, following which he was placed under suspension and the Anti-Sexual Committee was asked to enquire and submit a report on it.

After recording statements of the teacher and the victim student, the Committee submitted its report basing on its findings.

"It was decided that the matter would now be referred to the Statute Committee for its suggestions on further disciplinary action against the teacher," Sarangi said adding that suspension of the teacher will continue.
